Andrew Nolan Returns to Crazy Dog Records with “I Don’t Wanna Be In Love Again”

UK pop artist Andrew Nolan is set to release his new single ‘I Don’t Wanna Be In Love Again’ marking a significant return to Crazy Dog Records. This is his first collaboration with the label since his 2023 duet with Jazzi P on ‘Heartache and Lonely’.

The new track is written by Des Dyer and Steve Fearn, released 20.05.2025 on Crazy Dog Records.

Des Dyer: A Legacy of Pop Excellence

Des Dyer, best known as the frontman of the 1970s pop band Jigsaw, achieved global success with the hit ‘Sky High’ and has played a pivotal role in shaping the UK pop scene. Beyond his work as a performer, Dyer is an accomplished songwriter, penning tracks for Engelbert Humperdinck, The Mighty Avengers, Boyzone, Bad Boys Inc., Nicki French, and St. Etienne.

His influence extends beyond pop music; he has had a long-standing involvement in the Eurovision Song Contest. Des’ group, Casablanca, placed third in the 1983 competition to represent the UK with ‘With Love’, and two years later, he earned a fourth-place finish as a solo artist with ‘Energy’. Additionally, Des Dyer provided backing vocals in the 1988 Eurovision final for the UK’s entry ‘Go’ by Scott Fitzgerald, which placed second by one point to Switzerland’s representative, Canadian singer Céline Dion.

In the 1990s, Dyer collaborated with producer Mike Stock of the famed Stock Aitken Waterman team at Love This Records. He contributed to various projects, including providing vocals for Newton's 1994 dance cover of "Sky High," produced by Stock and Matt Aitken, which became a hit in Australia . Additionally, Dyer was involved in studio work for acts like Robson & Jerome.

Steve Fearn: From Brass Roots to Pop Sensibilities

Steve Fearn, an essential contributor to this collaboration, brings a unique flavour to the mix. Steve’s roots trace back to his time with Fearns Brass Foundry, a band known for their brass-infused soul sound in the late 1960s. The group released standout tracks like ‘Don’t Change It’ and ‘Love, Sink and Drown’ under Decca Records. Fearn’s transition from brass to pop sensibilities has made him a valuable songwriting partner, contributing to the diverse and dynamic sounds found in this recent work.

Beyond Fearns Brass Foundry, Steve Fearn continued to be active in the music scene. In 2020, he collaborated with longtime friend Des Dyer to release "Angels and Heroes," a tribute to NHS workers during the COVID-19 pandemic. Steve remains a respected figure in the Leicestershire music community, known for his enduring passion and contributions to British music history.

Andrew Nolan: A Pop Journey

Andrew Nolan’s pop journey has been marked by significant milestones and collaborations, leading to his current work with Crazy Dog Records. His debut single, released in 2021, was ‘When I’m With You’, a retro 80s-style pop track penned by David Wilks at DWP Records. The song became a hit in the DJ community, with the 2022 Sakgra Remix reaching the Top 11 on the Digital DJ Pool Download Chart.

In 2023, Andrew scored three Top 10 hits on the LGBTQ Music Charts, including the track ‘Love Fire’ — a high-energy pop song originally by Jigsaw. This was followed by ‘Vital Signs’, co-written with internationally acclaimed songwriter Gordon Pogoda, known for his work with Steps, Sonia, and Nicki French as well as numerous TV and film soundtracks.

A collaboration with Jazzi P on ‘Heartache and Lonely’ followed. Jazzi P is best known for her 1990 Top 10 hit with Kylie Minogue, ‘Shocked’, written and produced by Stock, Aitken and Waterman.

Production

The backing vocals, vocal arrangement on ‘I Don’t Wanna Be In Love Again’ are by Dave ‘Buzz’ Buswell, who has recently seen success with Tight Fit’s releases such as ‘Fallout’ and ‘Electric’. Buswell’s collaboration with Tight Fit contributed to their resurgence, culminating in their 2025 album Forever, their first collection of original material in over 40 years.

Sakga Remixes

Sakgra, aka Sakis Gravanis, is renowned for his retro, 80s-inspired pop sound, heavily influenced by late- 80s pop. Sakgra has a longstanding creative partnership with Andrew, having previously mixed his singles ‘Every Dream Has Broken’ and ‘When I'm With You’, and also co-writing the track ‘Vital Signs’. Known for delivering a consistent, nostalgic sound, this latest release includes a vibrant ‘Back to the 80s’ remix and an extended mix, staying true to his signature style.
